Get ready to bring your pottery to life! Participants will dive into the world of expressive ceramics, learning how to transform traditional wheel-thrown forms into animated, whimsical character vessels full of personality and charm.
Through a hands-on exploration of sculpting, stamping, carving, and altering techniques, you’ll discover how to manipulate clay in imaginative ways that tell stories and spark curiosity. We’ll explore a variety of surface decoration methods—from underglazing to glazing and other finishing techniques—that enhance the character and emotion of each piece.
Drawing will also be emphasized as a powerful design tool, helping you visualize ideas, explore forms, and incorporate rich, meaningful imagery into your work. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced ceramicist, this workshop will expand your skills, deepen your creative practice, and push the boundaries of how you think about functional pottery.
All materials for the workshop — including clay and firing — are included. If you have your own sculpting tools, we recommend bringing them. If not, the studio will provide tools for you to use as well.
